Situation 1- Raping

In order to further understand about factors causing the Baby Dumping, we would like to analyse some situations. They are particularly useful in depicting a holistic portrayal of a client's experiences and results regarding a program. It is good methodology especially in discussing social science issues such as baby dumping. This is to further enhance our research, to help to analyze the scenario and the incident of the causes of this child dumping.

Situation 1:
In some cases, the child dumping happened due to raping cases. Forcible rape is defined as  “the carnal knowledge of a women by a man, carried out against her will and without her consent, extorted by thread or fraudulence. The present study uses a macrosociological approach and empirically assesses theories that might explain the wide variations in the incidence of rape.
Three theories of rape include: ( 1 ) the theory that pornography causes rape because it reflects and promotes male dominance in society, sexually objectifies women, and depicts physical assaults against women that serve as behavioural models; ( 2 ) the social disorganization theory that claims that the erosion of institutional and informal forces of social control undermines social constrains and frees individuals to engage in nonconforming behaviour; and ( 3 ) the legitimate violence theory that purports to show where violent cultural norms ( violent television viewing, violent videos from the internet ) One may be raped or sexually assaulted, be it by a total stranger, incest, or it could be of their own acquaintances ( friends whom they trust to go on a date ). In most cases of rape and sexual abuse, the predator is a man the woman knows or is dating with. This is commonly called Date Rape or Acquaintance Rape. Date rape and acquaintance rape are the most common types of rape committed.
Most people still think of rape as a random attack, happening in dark corners at night or in empty parking lots. Although this is a tragic reality for some women, the majorities of rapes occur when there is some degree of trust. One of the reasons may be the fact that blaming the victim seems to be a prevalent reaction to date rape, less then 5% of date rapes are ever reported.

  1. Loh Siew Ying(A132765):Yes rape by a stranger is not the only type of rape. About half of the victims know the person who raped them. Here I would like to comment about date rape.
Dating is meant to be fun. It's a chance to get to know new people and explore romantic possibilities with them. But sadly, some people do take advantages of the situation.
Technology today increase the possibilities of date rape happened. Facebook, Twitter, msn, mobile phones and so on provide woman access to make friends with strangers, and also, for unscrupulous people to search for their victim.
Women should stay aware when date with a new friend, and if possible, go out with companions or a group of friends. Let's your family of your freinds know where you go. Limit your drinking and also keep your drink with you all the time. Know what you want and quickly ask for help if you feel threatened. Go and back with your own rides.
Date rapes can be avoid if precautions.

  2. Kelly( A132724 ). I have to agree with Mandy that these date rapes can be prevented. if careful consideration is placed before we entrust on meeting someone, particularly someone whom we have just known on the internet, it is of better judgement to keep a distance before making hasty decisions to meet up. Dating only comes to mind when we have know that person close enough. Nonetheless, avoid trusting a person fully.
The reason why most teenagers usually fall for such traps is that they are sometimes deceived by alluring and sweet words said by strangers they met on internet. Chatting websites such as wireclub, ICQ, chatting forums,et cetera, are easily accessible in the internet. Just type, "chat room" on google search engine and many can be found.

I would suggest teenagers these days, in search of company and attention to seek directly towards their peers, or counselors in schools or universities. Acquaintances around them can provide better solution as their background is more known when and are more related. they also interact more during schooling days. therefore, less possibility of involving in cheating cases. i also suggest for some who decides to trust no one and share their problems with some random strangers, try this website. http://www.omegle.com.
However, do keep in mind that omegle will not stop teenagers from revealing true information about himself. therefore a person must always be reminded to have certain awareness and be wary when communicating on the internet.
