We are students from National University of Malaysia (UKM) which consist of four person. we are given a task to create a blog. We have come up to a consensus to discuss about child dumping since this problem is happening rampantly and usually the highlights in most news updates.

It has been said that, most child dumping are caused by pornographies. Some link them to peer factors, while other group pin-point that the people are influenced by different culture projected by media or other source of information.

Baby dumping is a much pressured issue in Malaysia. It is the responsible of both parties; the mother and the father. However there are many instance where female is the only one who is taken the blame, suffering judging eyes from the society.

But such stereotype should not be made, be it the influence of media or the deteriorating morality of the society, this issue will not be bought down if measures are not taken and the society is not educated with the consequences of such decision made, to the baby, parents and the society as a whole.

  1. Scarcity is the main cause of most social problems (which also include the issue of immorality as it involves the scarcity of time). To relate this, parents nowadays are all desperate seeking for more incomes for the sake of housing themselves and for their own respective families. With all the desperate fears of facing scarcity and the threats of unemployment, job cuts, and the financial downturn, employers and employees alike are getting busier and busier to compete and fight for space and money.

Look at the family institutions in the 1960s and the current world. Due to those ongoing financial threats and fears, the family institutions begin to break gradually. Remember the fact that the Dollar buys a nickel's worth as time passes by, and thus prices go up as inflation continues to devalue the currency.

And of course, with the depleting effect of the family institutions, children are not closely guided by their parents these days. Instead, they were only being fed with materialistic needs and the media as entertainment. The media, which should be a responsible tool to spread the appropriate values to a range of communities, are now corrupted with commercial values like conflict and sex (or any other imaginative not-so-real fantasies), and therefore that truly infects the mind of an innocent child - to think that sex is a fun thing. But little had known that sex also comes with responsibility at the same time.

And with the lack of sex education and the awareness of the responsibility causes the cases of baby dumping. The couples involved with such cases chose an irresponsible manner to escape their problem. Abortion, at the same time, is another controversial issue they are trying to escape from, but then, baby dumping is a more serious offence when compared to abortion (because the fetus is already born, and its confirmed that the baby is a living creature when you choose to dump it - I don't think abortion is correct either - let me assure this).

Well, it doesn't matter if you choose to dump, keep or abort the baby, the sin has already been done. Sex before marriage (abstinence) is the best way, and it should be implemented in sex education.

On the solution of societal problems and scarcity, I believe that people should realize how important it is for us to change our ways of living. It's not worth it to waste our energy, time and efforts for the sake of earning something that is devaluing over time (money). As people begin to be busier, as well as the rising unemployment and crime rates all around the world, people should relate all social problems to the social system we're living in, and question everything along its process. You'll be surprised that all social problems have 1 main root - the monetary system.

Why? You ever heard of the saying "in the real world, nobody cares". It is true, for this system doesn't care for your well-being and your welfare. It only looks at you as just another resource for productivity.

When I was thinking about society and its sicknesses, I am not just thinking about Marxism. I also look through religion and my own common sense to relate those problems. Well, the only ultimate solution is, humanity should change the way they live as a whole - more preferably, moving on to a post-monetary era, entering and practising Resource-Based Economy (RBE). In history, we can see machines are able to replace human labours time to time. Factory nowadays are working on machines alone (1 of the examples). Technology should be implemented with the right ethics in order to change our ways of living as a whole.

Sorry for commenting too long, but I feel that it is important for me to broaden the scope to comment something beyond the social problems, as baby dumping is being 1 small scope of this big issue.

  2. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We are amazed with the way u look into this issue in range of wider scope.

You mention on the causes, due to the materialistic attitute of parents, not spending time and instil good values as well as religions in child's mind. Ironically, since you have realised that the technologies have taken over the men power, there's no choice. people have to compete to get a place, a job as to secure their family. some are sole breadwinners of the family and therefore, the job is of extreme importance. whether to have time for the child, it depends on how they teach them and make the child understand the reasons for their absence in certain time. in other words, child has to be street-smart, wise, understanding and rational.

as such, i belief the school institution also plays a role to provide proper sex education. Start taking the initiative to teach our children not just about the birds and the bees but also the emotional aspects of a sexually active lifestyle. sex is not just about biology. i recalled how i learn about sciences, where i know how is the feotus development but i never know the insertion of a men's genital into the girl's private.

your thoughts have definitely helped to contribute to our research. especially on the social environment and the possible actions ( RBE- we are uncertain of the outcome) probably in future posts, we will talk about the mental state of the mothers, having to conceive a child that is not socially sanctioned.

  3. Let me further explain what is RBE. This is one of the new trends of dissent on what the Americans and Europeans public are currently discussing. Based on their respective flaws on capitalism and socialism, the people of the First World nations have been questioning new ideas to rethink and redesign society to be more humane and collaborative, also known as "New Tribalism".

It is firstly presented by The Zeitgeist Movement in 2008 from their 2nd documentary movie, "Zeitgeist: Addendum". The Resource-Based Economy is all about abolishing the monetary system, while implementing the scientific method for society to contribute in order to improve a more sustainable environment, while advocating technology to improve all humans' welfare and standards of living. Introduced in the 1970s, the RBE concept is currently being developed by The Venus Project, under the supervision of 94 yr old, Jacque Fresco and partner, Roxanne Meadows.

Communism, as presented from Karl Marx, was actually having a similar concept like the RBE. However, communism is corrupted as their ideologies are not fully practised by their leaders. For example,

    1. Communism (word derived from "community") is for the society, with the concept of creating a CLASSLESS society. However, if society should be classless, why are there leaders in their system? In their manifesto, Marx had criticized the ruling class a lot.

    2. Communism abolishes the concept of PROPERTY. Keep in note that "property" also includes money. If communism abolishes property, why were they having banks and currency in their nations? They are not practising what they are advocating.

The Resource-Based Economy was actually all about abolishing the money system, and thus, to induce collaboration instead of competition to improve society. There is no human labour, or human leaders under this economy, as things will be designed under the concept of sustainability. Decisions will be made under statistics measures.

Anyway, if you want to make more research on RBE. Do view:

  4. I can't explain much as I only give a brief about RBE. Well, I did shared an idealistic solution, but then it requires many to realize how much indoctrinated we are under this money system which has already been falling apart ever since the Great Depression.

Don't just look at this project as just your own assignment to pass the subject. You and I are human beings, we have the brains and the wisdom given by God.

I did managed to provoke some thoughts on people to realize the increasing flaws of our social system, however, in order to change the world, we need the majority to know what the root problems are and to solve it as a whole. Hopefully I am able to provoke some actions as well.
